Build Services: Home Additions

A well-built home addition can add much-needed space, comfort, and value to your home. Home additions are one of the most misunderstood aspects of what we do. They seem relatively simple in concept but are not so in execution. A home addition is not a box added to a home to create some extra space. It is an integral part of your new home and has to be built with the understanding that it has to tie in seamlessly with what is already there. This is especially true when it comes to older homes in Toronto’s east end, where we have extensive experience in adding space while maintaining the charm and character of the original structure. Woodsmith Construction has the expertise and skill to execute a seamless and high-quality home addition project that will not only meet your needs but also add value to your home for years to come.

At Woodsmith Construction, we specialize in building high-quality home additions for Toronto-East homeowners. Our experience in dealing with older homes allows us to create custom additions that blend seamlessly with the existing architecture. We offer three main types of home additions, including third-floor additions, which can potentially provide that much-needed adult space away from the kids. Rear additions are a popular option for homeowners looking to expand their ground-floor space and add an extra bedroom on the second floor. Finally, we also offer front additions, primarily used to create a mudroom space or to add more floor space to the home. Our team carefully considers the form and function of each home addition to ensure it adds to the home’s overall aesthetic and maximizes the utility of the additional space created.

Three Types of Home Additions

At Woodsmith Construction, we offer a wide range of different types of additions that can enhance the functionality and appearance of your home. We specialize in designing and building custom additions to older homes. We understand the importance of thoughtfully built home additions for homeowners who wish to expand their living space. There are many different types of additions that we can create, but we have categorized them into three main types: third-floor additions, rear additions, and front additions. Each of these types offers a unique way to add more space to your home, and our experienced team of designers and builders will work with you to determine which one best suits your needs and preferences. Whether you need an extra bedroom, more living space, or a dedicated home office, we can help you achieve your goals with a high-quality home addition that seamlessly integrates with your existing home.

Third Floor Additions

The third-floor addition is a popular choice for homeowners looking to create a private adult space without interrupting their home’s layout and functionality. It’s the perfect solution for adding a primary bedroom and bathroom on the top floor, providing a quiet retreat at the end of a long day. Constructing a third-floor addition is relatively straightforward as services can be efficiently run through your home, minimizing the impact on your family. Plus, the move-out time required for these types of additions is typically short, usually only until the framing is complete and the structure is weather-tight. As far as home additions go, a third-floor addition checks many boxes for those seeking a stress-free and efficient building experience.

Rear Additions

Are you feeling a little cramped for space? You may need more room on your ground floor, or maybe an extra bedroom is something you are after. A rear addition is a perfect choice to get your ground floor layout working better and potentially add that extra spare bedroom you desperately need. The trick is not to make the new space feel cut off from the rest of the house. An excellent rear addition should not look like an addition at all; it should look like it has always been a part of your home. It should blend in seamlessly while providing you with that much-needed floor space. We do many of these builds, and we know how to ensure your home doesn’t have an addition that looks like a box stuck on the back of it. With our experienced build team in charge, your home’s rear addition will be a great one

Front Additions

Sometimes a bit of extra space is needed in the front of a home. For example, there may be a run-down porch that has seen better days. Whatever the case, a Front Addition can help take what was an eyesore and make it into that mudroom you always wanted or maybe that bigger living room you need. Front additions are another fairly popular addition; they can bring a lot of bang for a minimal dollar spend. They are a great choice when combined with an exterior facelift, as they can upgrade your home’s curb appeal in one go. We have you covered from start to finish with any front addition; our team knows how to make your front façade shine again. We will help you take your design into reality as we do with all of our builds.
